    Overview

    Through completion of this qualification, learners will meet industry requirements for awareness and/or implementation of safeguarding procedures for adults and adults at risk, as set out within CIMSPA’s professional standard.

    The purpose of this qualification is to provide learners with awareness of safeguarding procedures appropriate to their job role and, where appropriate, the ability to implement sufficient safeguarding procedures to safeguard adults and adults at risk. There are three pathways within this qualification reflecting the different levels of responsibility and the level of contact required for different roles within the sector.

    Qualification details

    This qualification contains three units, with each unit reflecting a different category of responsibility. Learners will need to complete one unit in order to achieve the qualification. By achieving the qualification, learners will fully meet the relevant category requirements of CIMSPA Safeguarding Adults and Adults at Risk professional standard.

    This qualification contains content to support learners to:

    • Understand safeguarding of adults and adults at risk.
    • Understand indicators and types of abuse.
    • Understand how to respond to reports or suspicions of abuse.
    • Understand the key principles of safeguarding adults and adults at risk.
    • Be able to recognise and respond to potential indicators of abuse and poor practice.

    Learners completing the category 3 unit will also:

    • Understand the key safeguarding legislation and its impact on policy at their organisation
    • Contribute to, implement, review and evaluate their own organisation’s safeguarding policies and procedures.
    • Demonstrate safeguarding risk management within their own role. Work with others to share best practice in safeguarding adults and adults at risk.
